
KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened unchanged against the US dollar in early trade this morning, as investors and traders stayed on the sidelines, dealers said.
At 9 am, the ringgit was quoted unchanged at 4.3400/3450 against the US dollar from Tuesday.
A dealer said players remained on the sidelines as they aimed for safety in low-risk currencies amid losses in the Chinese equity market, the slower global economic growth and rising political tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the ringgit traded mostly higher against other major currencies.
Against the Singapore dollar, it rose to 3.0458/0500 from yesterday’s 3.0460/0500 and vis-a-vis the yen,fell to 3.6452/6510 from 3.6409/6464.
The ringgit appreciated against the British pound to 6.3668/3763 from 6.3733/3832 and opened firmer against the euro at 4.6625/6687 from 4.6820/6891. –Bernama
