ALOR STAR: Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah has categorically denied rumours circulating on social media that he is in ill health and in hospital.

His press secretary, Nahar Tajri, released a statement saying that Bashah has been on personal leave for Aidiladha since Sept 12, and is holidaying outside Kedah with his family.

However, Nahar did not deny that Bashah recently visited Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) for follow-up treatment for surgery he underwent last June.

“The follow-up treatment was to ensure that he was in good condition to leave for his holiday.

The doctor had also advised him to rest until his wound heals completely,” he said. Nahar was commenting on Facebook posts, circulating since this morning, alleging that Bashah has been warded at HSB.

It was reported that last June, Bashah underwent intestinal surgery at the Penang Hospital.

He was first admitted to the Kedah Medical Centre after he complained of dizziness at a meeting of Kedah state assemblymen at a hotel here on June 4, and was transferred to the better-equipped Penang Hospital the following day. -nst
