KUALA LUMPUR: Azizulhasni Awang and Fatehah Mustapa were again in dominant form at round one of the South East Asian Grand Prix at the Kuala Lumpur Velodrome.
Azizulhasni had no difficulty bagging the men’s keirin in a time of 11.504 seconds ahead of Uzbekistan’s Ruslan Fedorov and Worayut Kapunya of Thailand.
The race, however, saw up and coming rider Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom relegated to last place for not holding his line during the final sprint, causing Worayut and Pongthep Tapimay (Thailand) to crash.
Fatehah clinched the women’s keirin in 13.299s with Shanon McCurley (Ireland) and Thailand’s Pannaray Rasee coming in second and third.
Fatehah and Azizulhasni had also won their respective sprint events on Tuesday. Jupha Somnet emerged victorious in the women’s omnium points race with 119 points while Indonesia’s Fitriani (39) and Nurul Alissa Mohammad Azman (34) were a distant second and third.
